In order to increase the life of your production line, it is essential to perform maintenance on labeling equipment. Below you will find advice from our experienced technicians on how to perform first level maintenance using the Weber Marking Systems cleaning kit. However, to ensure the best possible protection of your equipment, do not hesitate to set up a maintenance contract.
How to perform maintenance on labeling equipment?
Labeling machines should be cleaned every day in order to operate in optimal conditions and prevent wear and tear. However, cleaning frequency is highly dependent on the system use and environmental conditions. More regular cleaning may be recommended depending on your production.

• Clean the print head
Low printing quality indicates that the print head is dirty. The print head is one of the most sensitive components of the label printer, so it must be cleaned regularly and carefully.
• Clean the rollers
If labels are still attached around the roller, they must be removed with the adequate cleaning product. It is imperative to never use a blade (cutter, knife…) to remove labels. The risk of slipping and damaging the platen roller located immediately behind is too high.
• Clean the cylinders
The system’s cylinders may contain glue or dust that can deteriorate application quality. Daily cleaning is necessary to prevent these problems.

• Clean the label applicator
Label applicators must also be cleaned to prevent glue build-up and ensure perfect application.
• Get rid of the dust
A compressed air blower can be installed next to the labeling machine to prevent dust accumulation.
How to perform maintenance on inkjet printers?
It is better to clean inkjet printers on a daily basis, even though this type of machine generally requires little maintenance.

• Clean the cartridges
Before each use, it is good to clean the ink cartridges on a cloth to remove dry ink and avoid clogging the nozzles.
