Retinae, producer, and developer of artificial vision systems, in partnership with Weber Marking Systems have built a new system for serialization and sigil application for pharmaceutical cases: the new CS150. The new automatic solution is based on the concept technology “Print, verify & serialize” to tackle the challenges of the pharmaceutical industry, ensuring integrity, authenticity, and safety.
The system takes the shape of an extremely compact solution; in just 1800 mm long it stands for serialization and sigil application through Tamper Evident on pharmaceutical cartons. In fact, the CS150 by Retinae and Weber Marking Systems is an integrated solution meaning that it has a centralized systems’ interface for managing all labeling, marking and inspection devices.
Serialize, sigil application and bollino on the pharmaceutical box
Labeling processes are put in practice thanks to Weber’s automatic applicators Tamper Evident 122. These devices apply sigils on the boxes’ flaps for then applying the optical bollino on top of the products. “Specially the Tamper Evident sigil application results in a true added value for minimizing the dimensions of our systems”, affirm Luca Bertocchi, Partner in Retinae.
On the spotlight: the CS150
Once the pharmaceutical is on the conveyor, it must be serialized and controlled through Retinae’s visioning systems. Then, the bollino and Tamper Evident Sigils are applied on the boxes. Once they have been serialized and labeled, the pharmaceuticals’ serializations and labels are verified to determine their readability and whether they are going to continue the Supply Chain or being discarded.
The modular system allows the centralized management of all parameters enabling control of each device within the line. The system meets the requirements CFR21 and can execute qualifications protocols IQ-OQ-PQ
About Weber Marking System’s Tamper Evident
The Weber Modules Tamper Evident 122 apply sigil labels on the sides of pharmaceutical cartons. Thanks to its vertical disposition, it’s a super compact system that is easily integrated in any pharmaceutical packaging line. It is available in both left-hand and right-hand versions and thanks to its simple paper passage the changeover is quick and intuitive. Plus, the two separate stepper motors – for the unwinder and rewinder – to guarantee a constant tension of the label roll without the need for any mechanical adjustment.
